Cinema fc pipped Bundes fc in post-match penalties to slide into the finals of the SportPesa sponsored annual Kothbiro football tournament. Cinema converted 4 successful shots while Bundes missed 2 after a barren draw in regulation time.

Eric Ogwade was the starring for Cinema as he successfully blocked 2 shots. The agile keeper also known as DeGea previously turned out for Beirut fc and he was crowned the best goalkeeper in the 2016 edition.

The hugely satisfactory match started smoothly with local pundits predicting the unbeaten Bundes fc’s win even before kickoff. The first match was an equal affair with 50/50 ball possession as both teams sized one another.

After the break it was not business as first half as both teams went for each other’s jugular as they made more shots on target. In the 60’ Bundes were threatening to birth a goal but Godfrey Kimani’s thunderbolt went just a bit wide as fans stood on their feet to applause. 7 minutes later another thunderbolt went wide this time from Joseph Masinde.

In the 75’ Cinema’s Kevin Ndiwa shoots a dipping volley from 20 yards but the vigilant Bundes keeper kept it safely in his arms. Cinema’s neat and complete passes wowed fans on the left flank but all attempts to goal led to naught.

Bundes had a last chance in the 82’ as Dimaria Sibomana free kick dipped well but was handled well by Eric Ogwade. With no goal insight and the final whistle beckoning, Bundes substituted their goal-keeper in readiness for the dreaded penalty shots. Unfortunately the tactic did not pay off as Cinema successfully converted all 4 shots taken by Lennox Ogutu, Kevin Ndiwa, Alphayo Omollo and Brian Odhiambo.

Bundes scored through Joseph Masinde and Bill Okumu while Godfrey Kimani and Dimaria Sibomana shots were saved.

Cinema fc will face Githurai United in the grand finale on January 5, 2019 not only for this season’s honors but also to go into the History books as the 40th Anniversary champions and also the last team to be crowned in the Nov-Dec season.
