Former Malian and Sevilla FC Striker Frédéric Oumar Kanouté will be in Kenya this week to watch a Kothbiro round of 16 knock-out match on Friday 22.The annual kothbiro football tournament is heating up and for the first time in its History it will also be graced by two top notch Spanish La liga coaches who will conduct coaching clinics at the Ziwani Sports Ground on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21.
The football clinics will see two round of 16 teams scheduled to play on Friday 22, receive mentorship, training and full guidance on professional football from the two La Liga Coaches. Umeme Bees, who topped Group H that included reigning champions A1000 Street, will have their clinic conducted on Wednesday and the highly celebrated Opitos FC which emerged 2nd in Group F will have their session on Thursday 21st. Each Coach will be on the touchline for their team during the highly rated knock-out match.
The re-knowned star striker and 2007 African footballer of the year will grace the highly anticipated knock-out match between the two arch rivals Opitos Fc and Umeme Bees as the two teams get a chance to show case their talents and skills after the coaching clinics this Friday.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at the Ziwani Sports ground at 3pm. On Saturday 23, main tournament sponsor SportPesa, will host Kanoute, the two Friday competitors and kothbiro organizers at the Uhuru Gardens for a screening of the El Clásico.
Meanwhile 6 teams have already qualified for the quarter finals and they include: South B, Kingstone from Shauri Moyo, last year finalists Pumwani All Stars, Beirut and MASA. The last match in this round will be Saturday where Team GAA-Huruma will be up against Eastleigh North.
The tournament trophy courtesy of Pamojah Movement and manufactured in Germany arrived in the Country on Tuesday evening.
